The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is a global leader in promoting peace, stability, and security in the Middle East. Recently, the UAE has once again demonstrated its commitment to this cause by participating in the signing ceremony of the Regional Framework Programme for the Arab countries and the launch of the prevention and reduction of drug dangers to Arab society.

Mariam Al Kaabi, who represented the UAE during the signing ceremony, highlighted the country's unwavering support for regional cooperation in tackling drug-related issues. She emphasized the UAE's commitment to working with its Arab League partners and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) to create a safer and more secure environment for Arab societies.

During the signing ceremony, Secretary-General of the Arab League Ahmed Aboul Gheit expressed his happiness at achieving two significant achievements. Firstly, the development of a Regional Framework of Arab States between Arab league states and the UN office on Drugs and Crime to combat the drug trade and related dangers. Secondly, the launch of a joint action plan to prevent and reduce drug-related risks in Arab societies.

The Arab world faces numerous challenges in the fight against drug abuse and trafficking, including the destabilization of social structures, the rise of organized crime, and the spread of corruption. However, the commitment of the UAE and other Arab League states to addressing these issues is a promising step towards promoting greater stability and security in the region.

The UAE's involvement in the Regional Framework Programme is particularly noteworthy. This initiative is expected to provide a robust framework for the development of regional strategies, policies, and programs to prevent and reduce the impact of drug abuse and trafficking in Arab societies. Furthermore, the involvement of the UNODC in this initiative will provide technical support and assistance to Arab League states in their efforts to combat drug-related challenges.
